DNS leak test status

A real DNS leak test needs authoritative DNS infrastructure with one-time resolver telemetry tied to temporary test tokens. That infrastructure is not yet available in this repository, so this page is intentionally non-indexed and does not claim a working test.

What is a DNS leak?

DNS leaks happen when DNS resolution does not follow the network path you expect while using a VPN. Interpretation depends on setup, resolver design and client configuration.

How a real DNS leak test should work

  1. Generate one-time random DNS test token.
  2. Resolve controlled test hostnames under an authoritative zone.
  3. Collect resolver telemetry for that specific token with short retention.
  4. Show resolver summary and interpretation without overclaiming.

How to test your VPN for DNS leaks once available

  1. Run baseline DNS check disconnected from VPN.
  2. Connect VPN and rerun DNS check.
  3. Compare resolver path and expected VPN DNS behavior.

  • Approximate location and resolver behavior can vary by network path and provider architecture.
